Friko Chester Concert reviews
Good but Dark
It was quite an odd feeling as he rails against blindly following authority, but then entices the audience to cross their hands in unison. Is all education wrong? Is all war bad? A very pessimistic view of our reality -- though likely not far from our world state.
To make the show more relevant, he could have easily turned his attention to the figurative wall that has been constructed between us, with everyone and their i-pod earplugs or looking down at their phones and blackberries, shutting out the world and people around them, as well as the apathy in the world at large about the horrors going on in our world.
It was well worth the price of admission, forgetting how good this music is. While he tried to update the program to make it more relevant 30 years later, it seems a very dark and mistrusting view of the world and still feels a bit dated. Sure, minor things, and darn it is a breathtaking show.
